Westminster leisure centres: which of the eight open sites have a pool, opening hours, the free resident card that gives free swims, and when Seymour reopens.

Westminster City Council lists eight Westminster leisure centres, plus the Porchester Spa, and Everyone Active runs all of them under contract. Seven centres are open. Four have swimming pools: the Queen Mother Sports Centre in Pimlico, the Porchester Centre in Bayswater, Marshall Street in Soho and Moberly in Kensal Rise. The eighth, the Seymour Centre in Marylebone, is shut for a £42.5 million refurbishment and is now due to reopen in spring 2027, later than first planned.

The biggest saving most residents miss is the free ActiveWestminster Card. It gives free swimming to every child who lives or studies in Westminster, to residents aged 60 and over and to residents on certain benefits, plus discounts on everything else. Details are below.

Opening hours are from each centre’s page on Everyone Active’s website, checked on 7 October 2026. The centre list and card discounts are from Westminster City Council and its ActiveWestminster Card page, checked the same day.

Last entry at the Porchester Centre is 30 minutes before closing. Bank holiday hours are shorter and vary by centre; Little Venice closes on bank holidays. The Porchester Spa is listed as a separate site by Everyone Active.

The pools

Queen Mother Sports Centre, Pimlico. The only centre with three pools, a short walk from Victoria station. It also has a gym, group cycling and other classes, a sports hall and three squash courts. Its swimming lessons run across the three pools, so it is often the easiest place to find a children’s lesson slot.

Porchester Centre, Bayswater. Two pools in the 1920s Porchester Hall building on Queensway. There is a refurbished gym and a women-only gym, plus the Porchester Spa in the same building. The council has also run free social Senior Swim sessions here for adults aged 50 and over, booked through the centre.

Marshall Street Leisure Centre, Soho. The 1930s baths behind a listed facade, with a 30-metre pool that still has its original marble floor. It also has a gym and a dedicated hot yoga studio. When we checked, Everyone Active said the Marshall Street spa was closed for maintenance until further notice; the pool and gym were open.

Moberly Sports Centre, Kensal Rise. Two pools, a gym, two group exercise studios, an eight-court sports hall, a spa and a gymnastics area. It has an NW10 address, just outside the borough boundary, but is one of Westminster’s centres, and it is the closest pool for Queen’s Park and Harrow Road residents.

The dry sites

Little Venice Sports Centre has a refurbished gym and a large sports hall for badminton, table tennis, basketball, netball, volleyball and five-a-side. It shares its building with Little Venice Sports Centre Library, which our Westminster library opening hours page notes is open until 10.30pm on weekdays.

Paddington Recreation Ground is a 27-acre park site with a gym and fitness studio, a 400-metre athletics track, outdoor tennis courts, a full-size 3G football pitch, a cricket square with four practice nets and a multi-use games area. The park itself opens from 7am.

St Augustine’s Sports Centre is the sports hall and synthetic five-a-side pitch at St Augustine’s High School, open to the public only outside school hours: weekday evenings and all day at weekends.

The ActiveWestminster Card: free swims and discounts

The card is free to all Westminster residents, and to children and young people who study in the borough. You register in person at any of the centres by bringing original documents. The discounts apply to pay-as-you-go and casual use; for regular memberships, ask the centre.

Membership prices are the council’s stated maximums on 7 October 2026. Classes for under-16s are excluded from those memberships. The card also has discounts for disabled young people up to 24, council employees, community organisations and people on the Physical Activity Referral Scheme, all listed on the ActiveWestminster Card page.

If you have an old ActiveWestminster card, Westminster Council says you can swap it for a single Everyone Active card at your local centre, which also works at Everyone Active’s other centres around the country.

Casual swim prices

We could not give a reliable current casual swim price for each centre. Everyone Active publishes prices through the timetable on each centre’s web page, and that feed was returning an error when we checked on 7 October 2026. Prices also differ between residents with the card and non-residents, and between peak and off-peak times. Check the “Swimming timetable, prices and booking” link on the centre’s page, or ask at reception, before you go. Most of the centres are cashless, so take a card or phone to pay.

When does the Seymour Centre reopen?

The Seymour Centre on Seymour Place is closed for a refurbishment that will add an open-plan gym, a refurbished pool with level access, a climbing wall, a children’s soft play area, a café, a family hub and a permanent home for Marylebone Library, while keeping the Grade II listed building’s art deco features. The council’s July 2026 project newsletter says it is now planned to reopen in spring 2027, and puts the delay down to problems with the listed building that only became clear once work had started. The pool tank was being repaired and changing-room tiling had begun.

Until then, the nearest pools for Marylebone are Marshall Street and the Porchester Centre.

Other sports centres in Westminster

The council also points residents to four centres run by partners: Academy Sport at Westminster Academy, Imperial College’s Ethos sports centre in South Kensington, Jubilee Hall in Covent Garden and The Hub in Regent’s Park, run by The Royal Parks. These are not run by Everyone Active and set their own prices and rules, so check with each. For things to do with children this month, see our October half-term guide.
