The London Parade runs from Piccadilly to Parliament Square on Friday 1 January 2027, 1pm to 4.30pm. Free to watch standing; grandstand seats are ticketed.

London’s New Year’s Day Parade, now called the London Parade, runs on Friday 1 January 2027 from 1pm to 4.30pm. The organiser’s Location & Timing page lists the route as Piccadilly, Regent Street, St James’s, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, and says the general public watch “free-standing” along the street. Seats in the grandstands, VIP areas and a new Fun Zone at Waterloo Place are ticketed.

The quick answer

  • Is it on this year? Yes. The organiser confirmed the 41st parade on 21 September 2026 and has announced its first bands.
  • When: Friday 1 January 2027, 1pm to 4.30pm. Ticket holders can arrive from noon.
  • Where: a 2.2-mile route from Piccadilly, near Green Park station, to Parliament Square, all of it in Westminster.
  • Cost: standing on the street costs nothing. Grandstand, VIP and Fun Zone places are sold through Ticketmaster.
  • Road closures: not yet published for 2027. See our roadworks and travel page, which we update as closures are announced.

What happens on the day

The organiser’s 2027 announcement, published on 21 September 2026, expects more than 8,500 performers and more than 600,000 people along the route. It lists:

  • More than 800 cheerleaders and more than 20 marching bands from the United States.
  • Entries from London’s boroughs, which compete in the parade’s borough competition.
  • Musicians, singers, dancers, samba groups, stunt riders and “famous faces”, some still to be announced.

The first three bands were named on 24 August 2026:

Band From
Bahamas All-Stars Marching Band The Bahamas
West Broward Performance Ensemble Pembroke Pines, Florida
The Pride of Mill Creek Marching Band Hoschton, Georgia

The route

The organiser gives the 2027 route only as a list of streets. Its route guide for the January 2026 parade, which used the same streets, sets out the order:

  1. The parade starts just off Piccadilly, near Green Park station, and heads east past The Ritz towards Piccadilly Circus.
  2. It turns down Regent Street St James’s.
  3. It turns left onto Pall Mall, passing Trafalgar Square.
  4. It goes down Whitehall, past Horse Guards and Downing Street.
  5. It finishes at Parliament Square, by Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.

The same guide pointed to these places to watch from:

  • Green Park and Piccadilly: close to the start, with lighter crowds, toilets, first aid and grandstands.
  • Regent Street St James’s: first aid and a big screen.
  • Trafalgar Square and Pall Mall: the busiest section, with big screens.
  • Whitehall: accessible viewing areas, VIP zones and more grandstands.
  • Parliament Square: the finish, nearest Westminster station.

We will check the 2027 route against the organiser’s guide when it is published.

Tickets

Watching from the pavement needs no ticket. Paid places went on sale on Ticketmaster at 9am on 1 July 2026, according to the organiser’s ticket announcement. There are three types:

Ticket What you get
Grandstand A reserved seat in a covered stand
VIP Premium seating and extras through the day
Fun Zone (new for 2027) A festival-style area at Waterloo Place, next to the press zone, with first-come fold-out chairs, room for your own chair or picnic blanket, gazebos and toilets

The Fun Zone page says you can bring a chair or blanket. Prices are not printed on the parade’s own site; they are on its Ticketmaster page. Ticket holders can arrive from 12 noon.

Getting there and parking

The route runs between Green Park station at the start and Westminster station at the finish, the two the organiser names in its route guide. TfL has not yet published its New Year’s Day service plans or the 2027 road closures. Our Christmas and New Year travel page covers what is running over the holiday, and our parking page covers where you can park in Westminster and when charges apply.

The night before is the Mayor’s New Year’s Eve fireworks on the river, with its own ticketed areas and closures: see our New Year’s Eve fireworks page.

What we could not confirm yet

  • The 2027 road closure times and diversions. TfL and Westminster City Council have not published them.
  • Ticket prices on the organiser’s own site, which links straight to Ticketmaster.
  • The rest of the line-up. The organiser says big acts are still to be announced.

We will update this page as each is published.
